Jake Spodek
Front-End Developer
I'm a Toronto-based front-end developer who completed Juno College of Technology's Web Development Bootcamp in 2021. I also have a background in customer service and baseball analytics research.
I love a good challenge, and few things are more satisfying to me than putting the finishing touches on a pixel-perfect layout or finding a creative solution to a tough problem.
When I'm not coding, you can usually find me experimenting in the kitchen, exploring the city, or staring out the window waiting for baseball season.

Projects
Chat App
A classic chat room app. Each room has a different topic of discussion.
Initially a collaboration with another developer and now a solo project, Chat App was built with the help of React Router, Styled Components, and Google user authentication via Firebase.

Muck-it List
A "bucket list" for restaurants where you hope to muck some food, chow down, pig out, etc. I love trying restaurants I've never been to before and my personal Muck-it List is too long for my own good.
This was my first React app and I plan on linking it to the Google Places API and adding user authentication in the near future.
COVID, Positive
An app that highlights Canadian COVID-19 recovery and vaccination numbers, two of the more encouraging sets of data available.
This project was pair programmed with Ilya Marvin Ilyashyk and uses the Open COVID and GIPHY APIs.
Backronym Generator
A backronym is an acronym that is made using the letters of a pre-existing word.
Assigned to create a backronym-generating app, Zach Bines, Meining Cheng, Olivia Heulitt, and I developed Backronym Generator with the help of React, Firebase, and the Datamuse API
